Posts mark the corners of each tenure. Camping is not permitted in the fossicking area. O’Brien’s Creek Campground Mount Surprise Station; Amenities, no power Phone: (07) 4062 3001 Forsayth Forsayth is the western terminus of the Savannahlander Train’s journey from Cairns. This increasingly popular overnight stop is located within the Etheridge Goldfield, scene of a Gold Rush in the late 1800’s which is revisited in the Forsayth By Night Tour. Forsayth is still a popular base for fossickers and prospectors with some of the world’s best agates at nearby Agate Creek and a choice of Gold Prospecting spots on local Cattle Stations (See Page 23). Call in at the Goldfields Hotel for a coffee and information about local sights and activities. The locals might just reveal a story or two about some of the area’s secret spots.
