During the Gulflander’s peak season an evening special from Croydon to Golden Gate, formerly the richest of the Croydon Goldfields. Passengers can enjoy a ride on the Gulflander and enjoy a traditional ‘cattle station’ meal at old Golden Gate Railway Station and return to Croydon while gazing upon the Golden sun setting in the west. Join the ‘Billy Tea & Damper’ Tour, a special three-hour return tour from Normanton to Critters Camp including billy tea, coffee, damper and scones with jam and cream at the picturesque 11-mile waterhole. Ask at the Normanton railway Station for a trip to suit you. Main Gulflander Timetable valid from April to mid December: • Departs Normanton Wednesday 8.30am - arrives in Croydon at 1.30pm. • Departs Croydon Thursday 8.30am - arrives in Normanton at 1.30pm. Visit the historic Burns Philp Building, Normanton Gaol and the Trackers Quarters. Fishing The Norman River has several easily accessible fishing spots around town including the old bridge. Lures or locally available bait work well. Ask at the visitor Information centre for hot spots and tips. Visit the Muttonhole Wetlands Drive through en route to Karumba to see spectacular birdlife. Visit Burke & Wills Camp 119 Burke and Wills, King and Grey arrived in the Gulf on the 9th February 1861 and established their most northerly camp; Camp 119. When heading west towards Burketown on the Savannah Way, this camp is located on the eastern bank of the Little Bynoe River, 35km west of Normanton.
