This is a significant town with facilities associated with the nearby McArthur River mine, tapping one of the largest zinc bodies in the world. It is a favourite fishing destination for many travellers. Visit the Museum in the 1866 Police Station. At Borroloola the sealed road recommences which ultimately joins the Stuart Highway. A local service centre, Borroloola provides mechanical services, a supermarket and government offices. You can base here for some great fishing including boat hire from the Savannah Way Motel. Fishing charters are available and the Fishing Club has a camping ground and Lodge accommodation. The Fishing Classic competition is held over the Easter weekend each year (weather and road access permitting). Cape Crawford Visit one of Australia’s great geological wonders, the Lost City. These bizarre towering rock formations in the Abner Range formed through uneven sandstone weathering, creating an eerie landscape. Aboriginal people called the formations Yalyalacomella, with rock shapes representing the Rainbow Serpent’s body and eggs in spiritual ceremonies.
